Automatic species detection of bats

Due to rapid technological advances the possibility of mass-recordings of bat calls is now available at a very moderate cost. By using integrated recording solutions, such as the Pettersson D500x, or a bat detector with the time expansion system connected to a portable recording medium, monitoring of bats is now possible with a minimum of human attendance. The downside of this approach is that automatic monitoring usually generates huge amounts of data which is time-consuming to analyse manually. Omnibat aims to solve this problem by providing an automatic species detection system based on time expanded ultrasound recordings in .wav .mp3 and other common sound formats.

Omnibat needs no special recording hardware but can be used with any time-expanded ultrasound recording. Omnibat is developed for Windows XP, Vista 32/64, Linux and Mac OS X.
